11-13-2011, 11:22 PMHi All,
i am working on our next CJ trip...
I am thinking about driving from China to Vietnam or better from China to Laos (is it possible ?).
Any of you has any experience in doing it ? or better any of you know somebody there who can arrange hassle-free border crossing ?
Thanks
Antoine

11-14-2011, 01:45 AMDear Antoine,
Greetings and welcome to MCM. Don't remember meeting you before.
Please used advanced search and dig out the "Great Ride Forward) ride reports that GRF_Hans and GRF_Pete filed a few months back. That'll get you started!
cheersjkp

I've tried contacting GRF_Hans and GRF_Pete several times, can't say as I've had much luck.
Antoine, I suggest checking out GT Rider, they have a boatload of info about Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc.
Cheers!

11-15-2011, 04:02 AMthanks for the quick answers, i tried indeed to contact the guys with no success. Will try again.
I mainly would like to find somebody who could help on the chinese side to drive out and in the bikes. Had experience in the past that proved this part being quite critical.

11-15-2011, 05:55 AMDear Lebloche,
Have you connected with the Black Bats club in Shanghai? They're a group of Chinese Changjiangistas who ride everywhere -- including the Africa, the Americas and all over Asia. They did a group ride out of Yunnan into Lao and Vietnam a couple of years ago, and are very schooled on border issues. First guy to talk to is Liu Zhidong, who is probably Black Bats president as well as having the "franchise" for Jialing JH600 warranty service in eastern China.
Here's a post in English about the Black Bats written by our own Nostalgie, who rides a JH600B (sidecar model).
I'll ping you Liu Zhidong's contacts via PM.
Help is on the way.jkp

11-22-2012, 02:10 AMhey,
I was wondering what papers do you need to cross the border, any border from China? License, registration and what else?
