So I found and pulled the trigger on a pair of Honda 400's this week. One is a 78 CB400T and the other is a 81 CM400T for 150 a piece. Both are currently not running but the guy I picked them up from is a solid guy and told me the CB just needs a CDI and was running last year and that the CM was running when it was put away 10yrs ago. the CB only has 7000 miles on it and the CM 3500+ miles. The CB is definitely in better shape some minor surface rust, faded and just filthy. The CM pipes are rusted through by the silencers, the wheels are in rough condition and the tins look pretty bad. they both need a major cleaning. Not an issue.

the plan is to see if both motors will turn over, most likely will need to rebuild them both. Strip both bikes down completely and cafe the CB. I want to have the motor, wheels and frame blasted and powder coated and painted, clubman bars or clip ons, bar end mirrors, and new tins. Playing around with color ideas and graphic concepts. really want to do a throw back to the old ton up Rokker Brit bikes.

The CM will be bobbed out completely, I want to cut the rear and weld on a plunger hard tail, anybody play with these? Wonder how it handles? Same as the CB with the blasting and painting of the motor and frame but I need to replace the wheels and am thinking doing a laced 40 - 60 spoke wheels with disk brakes front and back maybe a springer front New tins, pipes, and seat + pillion and sissy.

I know it sounds optimistic but look to have them done by March. The bikes are at my buddy's shop (WeaverRides) he's going to be letting me work on them there and lending a hand on weekends.Forgot to snap a pic of the bikes when we dropped them off but will post the before pic this week.
Hope to start working on the motors this weekend coming and kick it off.

Outside of chopping and building my Heist, these will be the first rebuilds that I will be doing for myself. I should have the abandoned titles next week.

    Thx
