    Hello everyone!
I ordered me a DF250CHA Chopper last Monday 11/21/11 and called today to see when it would ship out. The guy on the phone said today, so you can guess I AM PUMPED!!! I have NEVER driven a motorcycle, but I have always wanted one. I am a newbie in every sort of the way, and any advice you give would be appreciated. I am enrolling in a motorcycle safety/training course, and will perfect my skills in the parking lot down the street from my place. I understand that cornering and braking skills are very important, as well as huge doses of common sense and wisdom! I have been watching youtube videos and reading the posts here, and this has given me a much larger appreciation for the blindedness of some of the car drivers that will be out there, as well as how much safer WE have to be in our defensive driving. I thank you all for this site, and will listen to your wisdom as I know this will help me stay alive and unharmed!!!
    Thanks,
    Chuck from Louisiana!!!!

    Dear Chuck,

Welcome to the forum, and it's nice to feel your enthusiasm. And, without wanting to curb your enthusiasm, please note that "perfecting" of riding skills is a lifelong pursuit. I've been riding only 2 years, and feel that I learn something every time I go out. And I've had at least one serious getoff. Hopefully the riding course you are taking is under the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and that you get excellent instructors. Motorcycle operation is simple, but there's soooo much to learn, and safety and good sense are things that you acquire over time. Please also bear in mind that by selecting a hardtail, you will have to pay extra heed to things that riders of fully suspended bikes can take for granted; you'll know what I mean first time you hit a serious pothole at speed.

Ride a lot. All the gear all the time. And ride safe.

    cheers!

fantastic news! My chopper came in last night while I was working nights, and today I uncrated and assembled it! Everyone on my street came over to look at it, and a huge crowd gathered with camcorders when they were told by my darling wife that I had NEVER driven any kind of motorcycle! I was already a little scared of dumping my bike, and that just added fuel to the fire! I had worked all night, stayed up all day, and just knew I was gonna give them a million dollar video.....but I didn't! I eased off the clutch and moved as if I'd drove all my life! And the feeling was beyond words!
