I`ve been reading all you`r posts and i never saw my combination of sprockets..when i got my bike (second hand), the bike was with 12ft and 36 rear sprockets. Now i need to chance the front but i can only with with 15...so, how will having 15/36 affect my bike? I`m really confused. I know that having bigger front sprocket will prolly boost my top speed, and lower my torque, but is going up from 12 to 15 a lot? Will that make some damage to the machine or something?

    hi

i prefer to feel a torqy engine instead of speeding in highways so i go for 12 front and 42 rear and it is ok .if you need more power 44 on rear is the best solution .some guys using something like 48 or 50 on rear but i dont recommend it ...!

adding 1 tooth up front or removing 3 teeth from the rear will help u gain aprox 10% more top end speed

say you wer getting wound out @ 55mph and switched a 12 to a 15 front sprocket , your speed should jump to 73ish , for the same RPM's

to determin if its "to much" , take off in second gear . if thats easy the mod will perform much the same after instalation

I see... i was getting top speed of 120kmh with the setup i had, but i wanted to change the sprocekts to get a bit more just because the ride at 80kmh was really unpleasent due to the vibrations of the bike. After a while, i don`t even feel my hands, so i tend to ride at 70kmh. Tho...that`s a bit of a problem when i`m not alone because i`m holding back the other riders.
I already ordered the one with 15, and i should have it on friday, so i`ll let you guys know how it feels.

Seems like i`ll be sticking with my old 12 front sprocket. The new one is just too big to fit in. That leaves me with changing the rear one if i want to make any diference in the max speed.

The 520 has more material and surface area, it should wear a bit less. Some factors to consider in the 520 / 428 debate.

Weight: The 428 drive set should transfer horsepower better than the 520 because it's a bit lighter. However, high end 520 components such as aluminum sprockets with 520 racing chain, will be lighter and roll with less resistance than a heavy duty 428 chain on steel sprockets.

Price and availability: I think it's going to be easier for people to find certain combinations of drive components in 520 vs 428, but that will depend on what country you live in and the depth of aftermarket support.

Forchetto, you mentioned f650.com (a sight I frequent because I have a F650 Funduro) their chain FAQ is great, http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/GeneralChainFAQ.htm along with the sprocket page you pointed out. We need to follow their example and report on what drive component combinations are best for our beloved QM/XF200.

We should try to figure out the speed/RPM variations of the different gear ratios and how they relate to the different wheel sizes of the motard and dualsport models.

For instance, I have the dualsport:

    Setup #1 (Stock) 520 Chain 12T Front 36T Rear (Ratio 3.00)
Good for the dirt or 2 up riding, bad for long hauls on extended pavement.

    Setup#2 520 Chain 14T Front 36T Rear (Ratio 2.57)
Good for extended highway use, bad for off road riding or heavy loads.
Top speed (by GPS) 114.25 KPH.

    Setup#3 520 Chain 13T Front 37T Rear (Ratio 2.85)
Good all around combination. Helps with vibration at cruising speeds of 70-90 KPH, still has good performance in low gears when you go off road.
Top speed (by GPS) 111.40 KPH.

This spreadsheet http://www.dropbears.com/u/utilities...earing_V12.zip would help if we could find the gear ratios for the transmission. Are these is the service manual for the DR200?

    Anyone?

    Cheers!

Will the 16t front sprocket for the sinnis apache qm 125 gy fit a 2008 qlink xf200?

I looked on Dennis kirk and sprocket specialists and the 16t sprockets mentioned on this thread are no longer availible. Has anyone else here found another source?
