And AFAK they took a lot of bashing about the "India" episode, so maybe decided to tame it down a little this time :)

I have always wanted to try driving one of those 3-wheeled "thingies"

In Harbin, those 3-wheeled thingies have little coal stoves inside them, with a chimney stack that goes up through the vehicle roof. They are used for heating during the winter.

Thanks for posting the link. Funny show!

Telling that they didn't mention the pollution or terrible driving.
    Familiar moment 1.14
Did they have a way round the driving license issue, or (as I suspect) just ignore it?

It is very simple and straightforward for a tourist or business visa holder to obtain a temporary C1 driving license at Beijing airport.
I've owned a Chinese car myself and not consider to look at one within the next decade or two.

That could've packed more punch, really. They were way too OK over those cars. I liked that "Trumpchi", though :)
