    Hi

Thanks for the ability to register as a MCM member.

I want to ride through China this Summer for one month, but I am now living in Japan.
    Therfore, I think as follows.

    1. get a studying -abroad visa or business visa.
    2. get a local address and temporary residence certificate.
    3. get a local driving licence in China.
    4. purchase local motorcycle and get personal property insurance.
Then, it is free to ride!?
If this is a right way to ride free through China, please let me know how to get
    personal property insurance in China.

    Thanks,

    Bigboy2 from Japan

Bigboy, there's lots of information on here about getting a license, registering a bike, and getting insurance if you search the posts here on MCM.

But given that you will be here for just one month, I think you would have a better experience if you just hired a guide who can handle the paperwork and you can just come and enjoy riding.

The guided tours cost more, but it would be a much better experience than trying to jump through all the hoops yourself, just to sell the bike a few weeks later and never use the license again.

I have heard from a good authority that quite a few Japanese riders rode through the big T to Xinjing last summer.I would start asking Japanese riders or looking at Japanese motorcycle forums on info on that.

    G'Day,

While in Lijiang last year April we met two bike tour organisers from Korea and Japan and they bring quite a few people over for adventure riding up to Qinghai via the T.... province.
Might have the business cards somewhere, need to check.....

I find it interesting that they let Japanese riders through considering the Chinese opinion of Japan but mostly stop everyone else.
