Inside China, it seems important to understand the different kinds of motorcycle manufacturer. Some assemble, some copy, some design well, some make for export but also sold domestically as a cheap manufacturing base for a Japanese company. Joint venture companies can sometimes make some great machines that are sold worldwide, or are just the same bike, one branded Japanese, one branded Chinese, the difference is the price, nothing much else. So there are clearly lots more c-moto owners worldwide, and soon to be even more, the bikes however are less obvious than Lifan etc on western city streets. Many of the joint ventures often have one Japanese partner and one Chinese or Taiwanese partner. The majority of the bikes are 125cc road bikes.
