The Japanese manufactures are not interested in moving production of any existing engines they currently manufacture to China. The GW250 was engineered and designed to be manufactured in china. They did that with the intention of globally exporting that new model as well as selling it domestically in China.

The main exception is the YBR250 engine, I wonder to this date if it is actually entirely manufactured in China, some claim it is but it is also manufactured in Japan. That is not very efficient to do, that being having more then one production center for an engine.

All of the Japanese manufactures are not interested in expanding the model lines in China without protection and to them that is independence from the partners. The Chinese obviously want that as well, but they want more technology first. The adage is they want you to provide the rope to them that they will use to hang you with.

Realistically they could vie for the LC250 production, that engine has a very limited release, if they could bring it to the production it would displace some of the Yamaha V250 sales. But not only as a cruiser it could be brought to production in a standard frame as well , like the SRV frame.

I believe that Suzuki 248cc V-twin offers more power then their current 250 single, it also bests the Yamaha engine as well.

Qingqi's marketing is still horribly mismanaged, they added some new images to their English website.
However it has more negative then positive affect, they need a new website very badly.

They added a revised version of their sport bike and also a new cruiser offering.

They seem to have fitted the CMX250 engine with an oil cooler. They also have it fitted with two CV type carburetors, the rating they have it at is 14kw@8500 rpm, its still 233cc, so they are getting 19.04 hp from that engine. They also put some nice finishes on the engine black on the block and chrome on the crankcase and head cover, the results look very nice.

Qingqi's U-Zeal is being released with the 250cc single, is being advertised for sale by MASH Motorcycles.
    by mjhirz, on Flickr

    $4,100.00

Qingqi is selling much less and selling them for more...their average unit values are one of the highest in the Chinese Motorcycle industry.

Suzuki has updated its DR200S for 2015...Jinan has two partners in China, one is Suzuki as its JV partner and the other is Pioneer as a down stream supply chain partner.

There is always a problem with expelling hot air, like claiming in a manner that is too forward thinking, in a manner that is for the most part a from of manipulation in logic. It is wishful thinking not marketing.

Down stream is Somoto…. a made up brand name. The Motard is there and really not being presented professionally is it? In the images there it has the Zongshen NC250? I suppose that if it also received the Delphi EFI it could be sold in China, but not for less then ZS can sell it Lighting and Thunder Models. It would be best to offer that bike with the 125/200cc Suzuki and the 223cc ZS and get its prices down. It’s an appealing design but may be unmarketable, its production costs too high?
