10-25-2008, 08:01 AMI don't know wether SKYTEAM Motorcycles are known in the US. They do have them in Canada, though.(http://www.skyteamcanada.com/)
Skyteam was formed by a group of engineers that broke away from Jincheng and used Jincheng engines and components from other suppliers to create more Monkey and ST70 replicas. Nowadays they use LIFAN engines.
Well, they've just released versions of the Suzuki Van Van, a sort of street dual sport thing with low slung chassis and fat tyres. They will be available in 125 and 250 forms and have the counter-balanced LIFAN engine in them.
True to form, the Chinese have not only ripped-off someone else's design, but also the name given to that bike : V-Raptor which belongs to the Italian maker CAGIVA...are they incapable of original thought?.
I think they're most attractive bikes, specially for the shorter riders among us. I've always fancied the Suzuki version but would'nt buy it in 125 form. Now if Skyteam brings a 250 cc version I might consider one...

Those are stout looking little bikes. A 250 in something that small would be outrageously quick/fun! Are these street of dirt?

10-28-2008, 06:12 AMI think they defy clasification. Some say it's the later development of the 70's RV125, a weird-looking thing similar to a Honda ST70 DAX , but bigger and fitted with balloon tyres. We have quite a few Van-Vans over here and they look very purposeful and "butch".
The RV looked like this (1975 model year):
Jincheng Monkey JC50Q-7
Skyteam Dax replica ST110-6
Zongshen ZS125-43
Qingqi QM200GY-BA Super Motard
Qingqi QM110GY

In China bikes like this are called "Monkey Bikes" and some dudes have don crazy long distance traveling with them through Tibet and Nepal. They even made a, excellent video of their trips but I keep forgetting the link...I think ChinaV knew where it was.
How are these bikes used in Spain?

11-14-2008, 06:08 PMA trail rider from the past. These bikes are very popular in northern Wisconsin were people keep them as cabin bikes. Something that can get you into town and back, ride a fire lane or snomobile trail, and other drunken jack-assery. Now, I'd like to see it with 16" and 18" street tires. Curb jumping, stair climbing, sidewalk running urban fun too.
