05-05-2012, 10:00 AMHi guys,
I've got an 11 plate TMEC 125 sm
Recently been having consistent problems with the rear hub and bearing set up..
Basically my bearings disintegrated a few weeks after having the bike (2nd owner), and it has happened twice again since replacing them.
It's the left rear bearing only that goes each time, and now there is some wear in the hub, ie new bearings just drop in, no pressing required and there is about 1mm movement up and down.
It's got a point where I can feel the wheel move when I go over small bumps or accelerate hard, which is slowing me down a lot for fear of damaging the bearings (the first time they went my chain came off, locked wheel and I was promptly ejected from the bike)
Anyway, I now understand the movement within the hub is causing accelerated wear, so was wondering if
anyone had ideas of a simple fix?
I tried wedging a strip of a beer can around the bearing which worked for a day until it fell out. Would be happy to try again but need a way to hold it in?
Parts are hard to get hold of so a new wheel is an absolute last resort.
Any help much appreciated, SMP :)
