Lifan is expanding its presence in South America, they announced in February 2012 that they will be building a $150M USD assembly factory in Uruguay.

Here are a few motorcycle models they will also be offering…the first two of these also have USA EPA approval for 2012...but are currently missing from the US market? The third is the 249cc vertical single, the engine that looks very close to the Yamaha 249cc single OHC engine, the same engine design as in the YBR250?

Those engines do have a hand operated clutch, these however do not, they actually have a centrifugal clutch that is semi automatic, it is just another example of poor or no translation, they really do need technical specification editing as well as just editing of English media content overall.

    Model:1P60FMJ
    Type:
    Single-cylinder;four-stroke; (air+oil)-cooled
hand-clutched start at any gear 160cc
    Displacement:161.2ml
    Compression ratio: 9.5:1
    Primary reduction: 3.722
    Bore*Stroke: 60mm*57mm
    Max.Power & Rotating Speed:10.3kw/9500r/min
    Max.Net Power & Rotating Speed: 10kw/9500r/min
Rated Power & Rotating Speed: 9.5kw/9000r/min
    Max.Torpue & Rotating Speed: 11.5N.m/7000r/min
    Min.Fuel Consumption:≤367g/kw.h
    Ldling Speed:1500r/min
    Ignition:CDI
    Starter: kick start
    Lubrication: Pressure/splash
    Transmission: 4 speed

However they are selling lots of vehicles....even with the sometimes odd choices of grammar and descriptive words. This example really should say semi automatic 4-speed.

Lifan has a new Thailand website….
    http://www.lifanth.com/

The new products are not offered there...I think that they would actually sell well in Thailand?

The small Lifan Foison Models remind me of the old Ford Econoline.

It seems that Lifan has given up on the US market, even with EPA certification They have become OEM big players in engines in the US, however, kind of like how Zongshen was the OEM for quite a few companies in the mid-2000's. Several US pitbike companies use them for engines, including SSR and Pitster Pro, as well as CCW. It is a shame that they threw in the towel in the US, although I don't know how much direct involvement they had with American Lifan; I never felt that American Lifan was as steady or as professional as the Lifan headquarters (remember the lawsuits against 'non-American' Lifan distributors?). I think as the motorcycle world evolves to serve third world countries such as Zongshen has recently done, we will see less of the big players in their own name. Not sure if there is any loss seeing as the quality of bikes coming out from smaller companies, such as the TMECs and Qingqi products, but there were some intriguing bikes that will probably never see showroom floors.

I do not think I would buy any of the bikes they offer, the LF250-19 is cool but it would be too much at $3,195.00. But that is just me,….the bikes is simply not worth that much too me.

I think I would if it was around $2,500.00 they could make it $2,750.00 delivered, then I would seriously consider it.

They need to just offer a nice line of scooters to start well made and backed with a very good management system.

These bikes should only be offered in limited numbers after a dealer network is established. That’s not guys selling bikes in abandoned gas stations, its the big dealers. Which are a hard sell many are not even interested in selling scooters. So they need to offer cool scooters, retro classic and also high performance racing scooters.

They could offer special models and develop a group within their operations that design and develop special models utilizing the engines they offer.

Like this HD sprint, they have Horizontals and they could develop a street bike off the largest and most powerful horizontal they have.

Dealers need to be approached just like customers, they need to be sold if they feel it then they know that customers will feel it as well.

They have to keep prices down and get into the dealers with a creative model line. What is a universal order winner, is the desire for refinement and attention to details.

A classic line, a economy line and a sport performance line.

Marketing is not excessive verbiage, its not about bull shiting people, good products speak for themselves. Satisfied customers also sell the products as well.
