07-09-2012, 07:24 AMdoes anyone have any experience dealing with a QingQi seller on Xi'an Men street West of the forbidden city? BeijingRiders is asking RMB 16,800 for the new 200GY but I'm getting conflicting info on this being a good price or not.
cheers

16,800.00 CNY /2,638.69 USD, is it an EFI version?
The price seems on the high side and its not really proven itself with EFI yet or it has and there just has not been an English language review of it?
I personally think the motorcycle should be selling for about $2,200.00 I thought haggling is expected in china.
It be good to see a review of one with EFI….

Here are a couple of Chinese ads:
Large Suzuki dealer at North 5th Ring Road (Wangjing area):

Qili motors at South 5th Ring Road (good selection):
http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/t_17326440.htm
I was looking at these down at Qili, and it had different price configurations. I think 16,800 was the price of one, and 17,800 was the price of another (motard wheels, bark busters, and a couple of other things).
My observations when buying a new bike:
1) Comparison shop on the basis of an Out-The-Door price, including bike, taxes, plate, fees, insurance, etc. In my experience, shops can charge a lot for these required items. For example, I've had shops quote me government tax rates that were several percentage points above what I knew was true. License plates also seem to be a way for shops to pad profit. An A plate at one shop might be 20K, whereas another might want 25K.
2) Consider buying near your location, as there isn't really a dealer-support-network. If you buy a bike from shop "A", shop "B" will probably tell you to get lost if you need any warranty work.
3) Genuine price negotiations on the new bike price is almost impossible (beyond maybe a few hundred rmb). Surprisingly, the profit margin on most new Chinese motorcycles is very low. It is the add-ons (e.g., plate) and accessories that you might be able to barter a better price on.
I've heard mixed reviews about beijingriders, but I have no personal experience with those guys. I didn't even know there was a dealer on Xi'an men. I've dealt with the above two dealers, and both seemed fine.
I agree with MJH, it would be nice to have a review of the new EFI 200GY.
Good luck, and hope you can make it to Kro's next Wednesday.

07-12-2012, 02:09 AMlooks like the price I was quoted isn't too far off the market. by the way - looking at the map I think the Suzuki dealer you mention in WangJing near 5th ring is actually Beijing Riders.

07-17-2012, 03:36 AMThere's a variety of 200GY models available, so the price is going to vary based on which one you get. I was just at qili last weekend and as LJH just said they were about 15,500 and 17,000 for the 2 models they had. They also had the 150GY for 9,500 (which BR has for 11,800)
They seemed to charge less for plates, reg, etc... than BR too. Might be worth a trip out there just to see.

Yeah, again, I don't have any direct experience with Beijing Riders, but I have heard that what they do is find a Chinese dealer (e.g., Da Di Heng Tong - the North 5th Ring Road Suzuki dealer) and arrange your purchase through it, adding some profit.
Last time I was at the North 5th Ring Road dealer, I saw a floor stand with the BR name on it, suggesting that BR was using this dealer. When I asked the sales person about it, he said he didn't really know what they were about.
I guess what BR does is provide an English-speaking service to expats, and charge a "service fee" for the "convenience." Personally, I always thought this was one of the perks from having a Chinese girlfriend/boyfriend!

07-18-2012, 03:50 AMActually, that's listed at 1208 rmb, or $190. I'd be very leery of that price, and that seller!
