Hello,
I will have a week off next week and I'm planning to ride for around 7 days starting this sunday.
I am living in Shanghai and I have been many times in Moganshan and Huangshan. Last year I was also in Jiangxi and Zhejiang.
This time my idea was to go from Shanghai down to the north of Fujian at Wuyi Shan.
I have few questions here:
1st: is anyone get there in the past? How the scenery?
2nd: Starting from Shanghai and going south I wish I can skip Hangzhou from the east instead of going northWest of HZ and then go south...Last time I was in Wenzhou by bike, I went up north to Shaoxing and it was a real mafan to go north with the HZ restriction. Bridges were restricted to Motorbike but I go through without autorization and get lucky to not being arrested. Maybe a boat might be easier? Please advise?
Anybody wanna join?

08-08-2012, 08:41 AMG'Day,
Sounds interesting and do let us know your exact route once your done with your trip. Had plans to ride my two wheel bike down to Sanya / Hainan but with all the restrictions on motorbikes entering cities (Hanghou, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Shenhen, Zhuhai).
Gave up on the idea and shipping my newly bought JL JH600B-A sidecar down to the big island (Hainan) by truck.
Enjoy your trip and post up some pictures and feedback please.

08-08-2012, 10:44 AMDear Nicolast,
There's been at least one reported two-wheeled crossing of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, though the rider, Motokai, got lightly spanked at the Hangzhou end, and I think he posted about it in MCM (though I'm not finding it). For the ride you are considering, riding (or trucking over) the bridge would be a huge time saver and get you into great ZJ riding en route to Fujian.
As for Fujian riding, check out Pfaelzer's ride reports here, here and here.
cheers!jkp

Hi Butch! My benelli is supposed to arrive on Friday morning, I bought the license plate few weeks ago already so it shall be fast to register...They recon 1 day would be enough. To be honest, I don't put so much pressure on it anymore, especially after the typhoon, I am already expecting a further delay to monday or tuesday....Understood with all teh restriction it's not that easy for the 2 wheels!
Hi Euphonius, I remember the post of Motokai and Milton regarding the bridge while coming back from qiandaohu. Seems they have light warning last time. I will tune my trip asap to figure out the final road. Will go through the different post on Fujian!
I will keep you posted for this trip.

08-16-2012, 03:17 AMHi Nicolas, Gratz with new bike. Maybe I`m a little bit late but anyway :)
Your plan sounds very ambitious and interesting. I planned similar trip before (till Xiamen). I discussed with my chinese colleagues and they confirm - the road to Xiamen direction should be very interesting.
Unfortunately I cannot afford such long trip for now. Recently I become father and this is more important for me for now :)
But when you come back we can have short trips (around 2-3 days).
Good luck and waiting pics and videos from your trip.

I never did a RR on the trip that included the "Hangzhou Bay Bridge Crossing" - but I did post this comment + photo for a bit or bragging rights
My intention was to find a trucker and pay him RMB 100 to take me over, but a last minute sense of adventure took me past the bridge towers and toward Cixi. And yes, there were Zhejiang police cars waiting for me on the Cixi side. They were nice enough to give me an escort off the bridge with lights and sirens. I was made to promise NEVER EVER to take the bridge again - haha._____________________

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. in fact I was not able to make this trip from Shanghai to Wuyishan since I received my new bike very late. I was expected to leave on Friday 10th or Saturday 11th but the bike arrived on Monday 13th and get platted on Tuesday 14th... So little time to make such aventurous trip. I have done finally the trip to Moganshan, ANji, Wuxi. Then last week end I went to Qiandaohu. Very nice weather and conditions until Saturday evening. They then planned rain all sunday and so we decieded to head back Shanghai on Saturday night... Anyway. Since last Tuesday night, my Benelli is now having 2100km...Enought to let you know my feedbacks on it....Yamaha YBR250 + Benelli BJ600GS
