Saw this been sold in the motorbike market in Guangzhuo this week.. it looks like a fairly good set up for commuting. 36 volts battery pack 950rmb and small 36v motor with disc mount 430rmb. not sure about watts amps and freewheel attatchment thou. total cost inc. bike is 2800 rmb.

I think the battery box is a great design, might get a kit for my city bike.

I would have to strap the battery down with some heavy duty rubber straps for offroading, but thats just me, I'm kinky like that

    cheers rich

Richard i can't get your attachments to work, but i think i know the bike you are taking about. I've been thinking about this kind of thing for a while myself. Running a powerful lithium battery and motor and running dirt jump mtb 2.5 inch tires and 200mm rotors and hydraulic brakes. Although maybe modifying a burly mtb dirt jump Steel frame.

Not a bad looking ebike, but I'm guessing the range and power are pretty limited. Anyone know of a decent quality STEEL mountain bike frame in China?

    Cheers!

control system was weird.. had no throttle control, just power assist when you pedalled. So would need a different control box.

    Dear ChinaV,

I can't comment on steel frames, but I've been watching this company for the past 20 years and have seen the quality of their titanium frames evolve. They started as an offshoot of the space industry. The Windspeed shop in Beijing has samples of their frames for road and mountain bikes. Or did last time I visited there.

    cheers

Titanium...lovely, but quite expensive, about ¥5000 for a nice Ti frame. I'm thinking more along the lines of this

Made by a company called Missile, but I really have no clue if their quality is any good. Found them here and looks as though yo can get a frame for under ¥1000.

    Cheers!

I noticed UCC have a steel frame cross country mountain bike. I've got options on a steel frame to convert. http://www.fireeye-bike.com/product....ss=2&prodsn=29

I'm interested in a reasonably priced hub/throttle/battery combo, but weight is very important.
