Yeah, i could film wrap it like a sandwich. Painting is an issue with this bike : the first time you paint over because you don't want your quasi new bike to look so old. But if you buy cheap aerosol paint - the sanvo 7 rmb sprays that you can find at any hardware shop - the paint job just lasts for a year. So that's one of the reasons why you might want to buy a Honda or a Yamaha : they are too expensive but i've seen CB's and 125ybr G's with 50000km + and not a spec of rust.

I doubt that will ever be satisfied with that spray paint. Simply, you need a specialist who will do the job by the book.

I never liked the front end of the bike. The rear might look classic but the square headlight was like a cheap version of a 1992 Ninja...with all but 11 hp in stock. You can't blame the designers for trying, but then every other blue dump tricycle that you meet on the street is a reminder of how little design is put in those bikes: they all have the same pseudo sports fairing and flammed stickers.

I have bought a new round headlamp, metal mounts and indicators. I will restore the bike to what it should be: a naked roadster - which is the way it is sold in Austria. You can check it on http://www.sachsbikes.com.au/media/Express.pdf Call it motorcycle Karma.

The latest Honda designs flow right into the company.

Wuyang makes the exact same design.

The SACH X-Road 250 has the Zongshen 230cc engine, that is a Yamaha based designs.

They only seem to be offering that model in AUS?

SACH does not offer it on its website, they have an overrated 150cc listed at one time the bike had a 125cc actually originally it did. This article on MCN refers to it as a 125cc SOHC…but the engine really looks like a twin cam?

    Hi MJH,

You are quite the source of information. Cheers for the adress of the FYM website. I was starting to think they had completely dissapeared.

Back to the part about the change of headlight on my ride : I was able to buy on Taobao the parts to replace a square headlight with windshield by a naked round one.

    IMG_8415.jpg

The parts are actually Lifan originals. It was extremely easy apart for the cables which had to be reconnected above the shock's lower clamp - and not under. You might enjoy this if you are a hairdresser and you like fixing dreadlocks, but i am no good with cables so it took me an hour.

Anyway now the lights are working so I will drive the bike this afternoon, will check that the shocks are parrallel and will tighten the bolts with a torque spanner after the test drive.

I wouldn't go as far as to say she's a beauty but some ordinary teenage girls turn into hot mummies : same goes with the 150 which has much more sex appeal and will not grow old with this new albeit classic face.

    P.S: that's before the facelift :

    Dear Montigny02,

The retro headlight looks really excellent -- a vast improvement over the schlocky plastic setup. Please feel free to post more pictures!

    Great work!

    M. Montigny, are the reflector and lamp lenses made of glass or plastic?

    Thanks Euphonius. I appreciate.

China, China, China. A land where you can make anything out of solid recycled tin can, a land that boasts the finest plastics from the renowned factories of Guangzhou and where workers, highly qualified in Mahjiang and driven by Baijiu, assemble relentlessly couscous machines, indoor rowers and even the parts of your FIAT or Peugeot and even Volvo back in France/Italy/the US of A... No seriously Zorge, the lamp i bought is crap plastic plus low grade metal. That's the reason why i paint my bike all the time: even if the sprays are cheap, they keep the rust away.

    Cheers,
    Alex

Solutions for us, C-moto riders, can often come from unexpected places: I know guys who pulled out bad plastic headlights and set glass reflectors and lamp lenses taken from tractor headlights. It appears that this is one of the few remaining places where you can see the real, round headlights. So, when you find yourself near a store with parts for agricultural machinery...

I have to mention one more time: I do not think you'll be able to get rid of corrosion simply by covering it with a new layer of paint. Without a thorough removal of corrosion and preparation for painting, application of primer, good paint and, if you had opportunity, final coat, you can't count that you solved this problem.
