Here is an image of the Honda 249cc water cooled SOHC 4-valve.
Its pretty obvious which bike line these groups collectively are going after its the Honda CRF family..
The Honda’s 450/250 come in two forms X’s and R’s the only difference is that the X has lights, but not for street use, the lights are just for ridding in the dark.
They also have the F line which is all air cooled and includes the 230 engine above, the first image. Then it also has all the smaller displacement models down to a 50cc horizontal.
Then they have the L line which have the DOHC 4-valve 249cc water cooled and the 223cc SOHC 2-valve air cooled and are both street legal.
Honda makes it own engines, they have casting plants, they have tier one suppliers but they have total control of their supply chain. If you look close you see it, you can actually trace it through its value chain. The entire line is designed entirely to meet high standards and is totally accountable to its high standards.
These Chinese offering are not like that, they are receiving most of their components from suppliers you cannot see and then selling through multiple brand names, through multiple distributors.
From a consumer position you can take a chance on one of them, as a distributor forget it, they will use any success you have in the market to sell to others that will undercut your sales in the market. The price wars leave little margins for any type of real support to the consumers. Eventually they fall into insolvency and then the products get deeper discounts, that is because the failed business auctions off the inventory.
The engine suppliers are feeding all this, they sell engines to everyone and anyone, the frame suppliers the same and also all the component parts as well.
