The V-Strom will be manufactured in China (Haojue Suzuki) with a target price range of somewhere in the 70s. Frame and engine imported from Japan. As expected, "soon" can be anywhere from this summer to 2014 to ... well, you know. No target date, yet ... just "soon." For reference, I think the GW was first announced in about 2010?
OK, we now return you to to the regular programming.

04-08-2013, 09:08 AMThanks for the update, LJH. Even with the caveats, it's an important step for Suzuki into China. They are the first Japanese player to go beyond the farmer bike market and enter the China recreational sector, what with the GW, the Hayabusa and, now, sort of, the WeeStrom. Interesting for this to come after Kawasaki sphinctered up and bailed out of their deal with Loncin. I do hope Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda will all do the lemming shuffle and reconsider their reluctance to start or expand their ranges in China.

Some news from the V-Strom? When, maybe, it is to buy in China?

The V-Strom 650 is now officially for sale in Beijing at the Suzuki Big Bike shop (FHL). There are two bikes on display, both are white, both imported (VIN tags looked American).
Price is 138,000 rmb (for comparison, MSRP in the USA is $8,499 - about 53,000 rmb). ChinaV was deadly accurate with his estimate.

I keep hearing rumours that Haojue Suzuki is gearing up to manufacture a Made-In-China V-Strom ... but these are likely just rumours.
