    Howdy All,

It's been about 3 years since my last China trip, and my wife (China native) and I are planning our next trip for late Spring or early Summer of '13. I was lucky enough to be able to do some hack riding in the area around Beijing on the last trip. This time I am hoping to put together a week's worth of riding on either 2 or 3 wheels and I am leaning towards the Southwest area of Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichauan. I intend to plan my own route, but I need some help acquiring a bike and a license (If that's even possible).

I don't know how things have changed over the last 3 years. How difficult, indeed possible, is it to get a temporary motorcycle license these days? Can anyone recommend an established business that can rent me a decent CJ or a small dual-sport (250cc)?

    Cheers,

    Dan K.

Stay away from CJ's for a trouble free ride!

Might be worthwhile to check this bikerental & tour website: http://www.ridechina.com

    Thanks TB,

I ride a Ural. Riding a CJ in China would be part of the experience, possible trouble and all. However, it would be nice to have a well sorted CJ of course. If I could get my hands on one of Jim Bryant's conversions down in the area where I itend to ride, that would be perfect. I'll check out the link you posted. Thanks for that. Have you got any information on licensing?

    Cheers,
