#1 Too rich or too lean, which direction to turn the air screw pls?01-06-2013, 11:05 AM
Hey C moto people! Compliments of the new year, may you prosper ever more!
Ok, so now back to my problem. I recently bought myself a xmas prezzie in the form of a performance exhaust. All good besides the difficulty in idling and slight popping sound when I release the throttle while slowing down. Performance overall is deffinitely better than I had with the stock exhaust. Sounds great too! However I suspect my bike is running too lean so heres my question..
Which direction do I turn the air screw, clockwise or anti-clockwise. Thus far I have fiddled a bit with both directions and so far it seems slightly better. However I dont know if its because its now leaner or richer that has done it.
Please help!
My ride is the Loncin Jedi 250

I would try to make a rich mixture with clockwise screwing. So far it worked great for me.
Still, I would not be stopped at just on half or quarter of a circle screwing and unscrewing; I would checked color of soot on the spark plug electrodes. This is a good indicator of the quality of the air-gas mixture.Ask me nothing - I DO NOT speak english. Really...

Doing a clockwise setting will probably work for a richening an idle setting. However I would put in a new plug run it at mid revs and hit the kill switch and have a look at the color and do it again for high revs any white and go with a bigger jet or raise the needle. On the electrode White is too lean golden to chocolate brown is best, black being too rich. You might want to change to a clip on air filter first and do the whole carb set up once.

Right..so I turned it all the way clockwise until it could turn no more, I then turned it back one revolution anti clockwise and guess what? She idles just fine now at just over 1000RPM. Granted its a little low but before she used to just die out and not idle at all. I'm gonna test her on the open road tomorrow and see how all this affects performance. I'm assuming now that she has better fuel richness she will run better. Thanks for your help guys!

I thinking of getting a performance exhaust for my Lexmoto LSM 125.
Im after something a little louder and deeper sounding.

I asked my dealer and it so happened they were importing a whole container full of slip ons. My guess would be for you to do the same. Although bare in mind the other carb adjustments etc that you might need to do to make her run optimally. It's still an on going process for me since I am doing things myself without the help of a mechanic. My bike has deffinitely a much louder, deeper more powerful sound. Traffic moves out of my way now which is a big plus for safety!
