Hey guys! New to the forum and to Chinese bikes. Looking at the RTB Bobber or RTC Sportbike... trying to figure out if its all worth it. I am a US Air Force veteran (did 9 years).

Welcome. Did you fly with fighters? How does it feel to be grounded?

Anyway, no probs, you can actually fly with a motorcycle too :D

Bikes are worth a lot in life. If you can afford one, then you just should get one. If you can use screwdriver well and you don't mind fixing things on your bike by yourself, then you could even buy a china bike.

Many of the dealers have gotten pretty bad reviews, what are some of the recommended vendors? I was looking at either the Sport bike 250cc or the Bobber.

    Dear Jeffrey,

Welcome to the boards. You'll be interested to know you probably have far more choice of China bikes there in the US than we have here in China. As for dealers in Maryland, you might ping the Heist and Dong Fang bobber threads. Both bikes have a decent following in or near your state, though I think a lot of guys bought their bikes off dropshipping websites. Caveat emptor and all that.

Not to want to steer you away from a China bike dream, if I were in the US shopping for a bike, I'd be sifting through Craigslist like there was no tomorrow. With the US economy slipping back into recession, lots of folks are downsizing and cleaning out garages of unused toys, including lots and lots and lots of quality motorbikes. Prices are very attractive, and despite the sadness associated with joblessness or losing a house, you're doing someone a favor by giving them a fair price and taking something unwanted off their hands.

Case in point: here's a distressed sale of a Kawasaki KLR650 for $1500 in your Baltimore craigslist.

Let us know what you end up with!

    cheers

I actually picked up a 2012 Ninja 250R from a local dealer for 4999 (total after taxes).

Well congrats of your choise. I am quite sure you will be much more happy with it than with a china bike.

Congratulations indeed. Five large for a brand new EX250 out the door seems a good deal, and the warranty will give you great peace of mind.

    Ride safely!
