Ditto ... Happy Holidays to all

ChinaV - you are a very lucky guy, in so many ways!

Retirement can be lonely, so this is my seasonal treat for myself ...

Now, about your Santa treat, ChinaV, bring it up to Beijing on your next visit ... we can create MJH's avatar!

Seasons Greetings to my MCM brethren.

Please allow me to chime in with my greetings for Christmas, er, make that Boxing Day.

Santa was good to me, too, though in my case he did his shopping during a recent visit to southern India. Anyone who's spent any time there knows well the distinctively cheerful soundtrack of India's chaotic roads, where the only ways to get noticed are an ever more garish paint job and a giddily earsplitting horn. Motorbikes, being near the bottom of the might-makes-right food chain, know they must pack extra punch to be heard through the bedlam. There's nothing quite like the jolt you get when someone blasts you from behind with a tri-tone air horn at 120dB. Many of these blast in one three-note chord, but the best of breed give you the three tones in giddy sequence.

And these aren't crappy shanzhai imitations; they are the originals from Hella of Germany, so they friggin' work great and last a long time, or so it's said.

So watch out, Shanghai! Though I'm not one to rely heavily on the horn, there are those times when you just know someone is planning on pulling a U turn in your path or otherwise ruin your day, so my JH600 and I will be there with earsplitting Christmas cheer all year round.

    BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh!
    BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh!
    BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh!
    BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh! BEE-duh-luh!

Suggestions welcome on how to wire this. I like my standard horn, a reasonably loud Bosch model that replaced the Jialing's useless tubercular cow stock horn, so I'd like to find a way to have both. One thought would be to wire the Hella into my high-beam flasher, which is a left-hand index finger trigger switch. That way it's reserved for urgent situations that require noise and light to get the message across. Then again, do I really want a 120dB high-beam flasher?

    Happy Holidays to all!

Mate flew back into Sanya right in time for our Xmas day beach BBQ from Germany and brought us a big box of the real German christmas goodies (gingerbread / stollen). Brilliant....
