REDMOND, Wash. - Ural Motorcycles new unit sales were up more than 30 percent for 2012, pushing the Russian sidecar motorcycle company past a previous record set in 2006. The company reports that its limited edition Ural Yamal and a unique marketing effort helped set the record sales numbers. The positive growth comes on the heel of two other consecutive years of sales increases in 2010 and 2011.
“We fell really hard in 2009, maybe harder than others in the industry. So it’s very reaffirming to surpass our biggest number. Next year’s goal is the same, 30 percent sales growth or die trying," says Madina Merzhoeva, VP of the company’s North American distribution arm. “Our small team is ready to take on the challenge. If we can manage to do that every year for the next few years, we might outsell some big names."

Ural’s year-end limited edition releases have been key contributors to Q4 sales numbers. The 2012 limited edition release, the Ural Yamal — based on a Russian Icebreaker — was a sales hit. The Ural Yamal came with a paddle and satirical instructions on how to survive a water hazard. The 50-bike production run sold out in seven days, Ural explains.
Not all improvements to the 2012 numbers were outward facing. The company was able to reinvest and make considerable production improvements at the factory, Ural says in a press release. The company also established a relationship with Siemens and improved their powder coating facilities. In the U.S., a consolidation and relocation of the parts department lead to tighter inventory control and quicker delivery times to dealers. It was reported.
Moving in 2013, Ural has plans to further expand in to key metro markets, improve international distribution and launch several collaborative projects.

They seem pretty organized, the budget side car sells for $13,000.00 in Europe and they look to have dealers in most countries.

MMZ (ММЗ) or Moskovskiy Mototsikletniy Zavod (Московский Мотоциклетный Завод) was a motorcycle manufacturer, based inMoscow. It commenced operations in 1941 building the M-72, a Soviet licensed copy of the BMW R71. With the German Invasion of the Soviet Union, the plant was transferred east to the town of Irbit in the Ural region. The new plant was known as "IMZ" (ИМЗ) or Irbitskiy Mototsikletniy Zavod (Ирбитский Мотоциклетный Завод).
In 1946, the Moscow plant was re-established to manufacture the M-1A Moskva, (the DKWRT 125 taken as war reparations). In 1951 the plant was relocated to MMVZ (ММВЗ) or Minsk Motovelo Zavod (Минский Мотовелозавод) in what is now Belarus.

These are Ural IMZ and Minsk, they are the only remaining manufacturers of motorcycles in the what is Russia and Belarus. If anyone has more information about other remaining production I would like to know about it.

How many of these sidecars are they manufacturing annually? What about dollar (or ruble) figures? And what are their sales numbers? A 30% increase is not very interesting if the base is only a couple of hundred bikes. They did 50 bikes in this special fourth-quarter joke production run -- but perhaps that was total production for the quarter, implying only 200 bikes in the year. That's probably on a par with Jialing's JH600B sidecar, not counting those sold to China's military and police. Any real number?

    cheers

The lowest priced offering is about $8,000.00, that being the Solo, without the side car.
The side car versions are 12-14k in the USA.

I do not know the sales number but it likely is 70 went to 100 for the 30% increase, maybe at a higher level, but they are not selling 1000's that is for sure.
