#1 adding a side car??? oh and making it first.02-14-2013, 06:36 PM
well, when I go for my longer rides, I think it would be nice to be able to strap on a side car to hold things (tent, mossy repellents, cloths, blankets, food, cooking gear, maybe a daughter as well)
Anyhow, to be able to cover any real distance in a short amount of time using the toll road is needed.
So I was wondering if anyone here had made their own sidecar for a china 125 bike??
If so any advice / pictures.
I am fairly sure I could have it securely fastened to my bike with thick, heavy duty connection rods. probably wont be able to put a pivot on it due to my obsession with making sure it will be damn near impossible to snap off.
at the moment the fastest I have taken my bike is 110kph (on a private road of course)
I am prepared to bring the top speed down to about 80kph if it means being able to use the toll roads.
I am quite skint so cant buy one, so making one is my only real option.
Edit: at the moment the fastest I have taken my bike is 110kph..
well thats the fastest it goes. flat out, red lining the screaming motor, wont get anything more than 110 out of it (i know this because thats what I was doing, mind you I did have a bit of gear on the back that could have slowed my down by a couple of KPH.).Last edited by lightend; 02-14-2013 at 09:11 PM.
just because something is possibly possible, does not follow that is it essentially essential.

OMG strapping a sidecar to a 125cc bike? Wouldn't it become unbelievably sluggish?

check internet for pictures of sidecar creations from Thailand. There i have seen many small bikes and even scooters with sidecar. none of these had been fancy but lightweight built for goods transportation

I think that the sidecar on the 125 cc motorcycle would be overkill. One or two wheel trailer would be much simpler solution. Then it would not be possible to transport someone in a trailer, but everything else you can.
Or, if you live in China, solution No2 - purchase of cargo tricycle and subsequent modification to reduce its weight and dimensions, as well as increasing maximum speed. In short, to become more agile and less... cargo vehicle.Ask me nothing - I DO NOT speak english. Really...

02-15-2013, 01:50 PMWouldn't that put too much load on the motorcycle? It would probably wear out the bearings a lot faster. You may need to stick a smaller front sprocket on it to give your self a bit more pulling power.

In a country like Thailand, lots of small bikes run a sidecar ... should not be a problem if you accept more weight and it's consequenses.
