Well - first ride this evening and boy does that original chain suck! I've got just under 200km and it is rattling loose already. I figured I'd make it to 500km before I had to adjust, but no chance. I have just gone ahead and ordered a new chain right off so can change it before this weekend.
Most everything else is ok, but a few of the electric connectors seem to be loose - have to keep re-plugging them. May take the time later this week to tighten up and seal them with some shrink wrap. Feel of the engine is pretty good, but definitely prefers the 3,000+ Rpm range.

Is your clutch working smooth from beginning?
    How about gear switching?
    Is it a carburetor version?

Clutch is definitely 'Finicky" at the moment - not at all smooth, but biggest peeve is the Neutral - seems to exist but I'll be damned if I can find it. Makes me feel like a high school virgin at prom....now WHERE is that SPOT everyone is always talking about????

Carb version for sure, but has only the one side Gas valve - have asked them (KR Shop) to re-check with the factory about this. Gear switching is still very rough overall - especially on the down-shift.

Got some biker porn on the way...no fear.

Also, have measured up the underside and am starting to look around for a center-stand that could be adapted for this bike - have you found anything that works so far?

Center stand is a good idea. I havent checked yet.
For clutch issue change oil as i had described.
The rough gear switch and neutral will get better with the kilometers. I have now 3500km done and its going well. My neutral is easier to find from down shifting during slow down.

Any idea WHERE to buy 20W50 syn oil here in Shanghai?? I have checked a few gas stations and shops, but everyone keeps saying 'Why would you need THAT?" so not very encouraging...

never-mind - I should have just gone to taobao...they have EVERYTHING!

for the oil go to TP China in SH or to Harley.
I used the semi synth. oil from Harley as I had still some at home.....
YeahYeah ..... some guys will tell you " That's a waste" ..... BUT: it solved my problem.
Next oil change I will try to get back to a normal 10W40 motorcycle specific oil and see whats the effect.

Today I had finally time to ride some real KM with the new DID chain. This is the first time that I am surprised to feel how big is the difference between a poor and a very good chain. I strongly recommend this investment. All the rattling sound is disappeared and I also feel it in the moment the bike changes from pulling to pushing.

Was at the dealer "Qili" today, and it has a Shineray 400 dual sport, badged as a GX400. Is that a new model, or maybe an X5 rebadged for export that somehow made its way into Beijing? Looked like the X5, carb'd version.

As I see from my X5 it is also named "GX400 Moto".
The complete model name should be XY400GY.
