Does anybody have experience with putting 17 inch offroad wheels on a 250?

Why I am asking: Recently i had the chance to ride pitbikes on a track and it was a lot of fun.
Now I am having a CQR250 that I used for enduro type riding. I am replacing it now anyway. So I was thinking to strip down all unnecessary stuf and make it a fun bike to use on those mudd fields or not-yet construction sites.
No question, I need knobbies. Now I am thinking to make them 17 inch front + back might make handling easier and bring it a bit closer to the pit bike experience.

Any opinions on that? Can't find anything on full size bikes with smaller knobby tyres.
Don't want to put more money than necessary in it and later find out the bike is too heavy for 17s to be fun or something.

I think there's probably very very limited choice regarding 17" front tires when it comes to knobbies, or you'll only find tires intended for use on rear only!

Check what tires you can find in the right size for your 17", list them and rethink again if it's good choice in China.

    Regarding handling, I'd say I rather hit a hole with a 21" front than a 17"!

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the input Barry.

I just came to this idea becatse I saw this 17 inch knobby set on taobao
    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...&id=6858721637

I still have bike with 21inch front for general riding. For sure pot holes are better with bigger tyres.

AFAIK... the 17" knobby issue comes up from time to time on various forums and it always seems like you end up running a rear tire in the front. With all the motards out there in the world, I'm surprised someone hasn't come up with a proper F/R matched set for 17".

I know this probably help you, but TMEC are selling 17" knobbies on their enduros in the US and elsewhere (see the photo of the military men in Afghanistan on 'Ariana 200s' (TMEC)
