    Hi

GW 250 riders ... What engine oil would you recommend for GW250?

I would like to pick up that question.

Generally my answer would be easy: What the manual says.
I attached that page as reference. As far as I understand it, it asks for full synthetic oil, "合成油" (hé chéng yóu).
The bike comes with 10W40 API-SN full synthetic, so I take it as the oil of choice.

Now it happens that oil-change is due again. Unfortunately, I live in a 10something-mio people farm, and such oil is not available.
    Now I can only choose:
A: Castrol Edge 5W40 synthetic oil
    B: Castrol GTX 10W40 semi-synthetic oil (or Mobil1 equivalent)
C: Get 10W40 synthetic motorcycle oil from Beijing/Taobao

Previously I did C, except for the run-in for which I used 10W40 mineral oil for the first 300km, and 10W40 semi-synthetic for the next 300or so km, since then 10W40 synth...
But I want to get it done tomorrow and I'm kind of tired of such hassle for oil. Maybe A or B will do for the next 5000km...

EDIT: Fixed the attachment... I think...

for cold or cooler temperatures you better use a 10W40. That means it has a higher viscosity (the oil is thinner). For hot season you can take a 10W50 or 20W50 (the oil is thicker, but that's not so good in the winter cold start condition)

Now we still need someone who talks a bit about synthetics etc.

I use in my X5 currently a semi synthetic 20W50 and its doing well during the hot days.

I just go with the oil that has a picture of my bike on it - even in the correct color (that's gotta make a difference!).

Viscosity is my only concern - gets hot in Beijing during the summer (although this summer has, so far, been largely wet & miserable).

Now THIS is running the risk of becoming a dreaded oil thread!

That is indeed a plus, easy choice in this case!
