I'm kewl about the topic...
I understand Sabine that you are just in the very early stages of this venture...
However Sabine, you need to be very careful about setting up a charitable organisation in China, especially the legality and opening up bank accounts! I understand your intentions etc., and that perhaps you expect or intent is for just a small charitable gesture, but the Chinese authorities are very strict about this type of activity. I'd strongly recommend before you get too far along, that you seek out a lawyer to help you with the setting up and compliance with the PRC laws and regulations. You might only intend to assist one orphanage, but it can very quickly become a much bigger enterprise, once you really become involved in this type of activity, as there are so many needy orphanages and under resourced entities/organisations around... don't ask me how I know.

It might sound anal but I'm involved with several charitable and not-for-profit organisations and I can tell you it is not a simple matter at all here in PRC.
So before people start making pledges and what not, Sabine you will need to register your charity especially if it will involve money... as has started here already with pledges.
People including foreigners have been jailed for 'alleged' improper conduct of charities and similar in PRC.

blah blah blah you get 14 days jail for driving with no DL in china so are you in Doc but good advice we just need a pledge doc now please

dear Bikerdoc, I don't intend to make a charity organization. my idea is something similar to the Mad Dogs Event each year in Beijing. what ever money they collect during a year or got through charity rides or other things, they give to the Good Shepard Orphanage near Tianjin.
I know, we cannot help everyone, but we can help a little bit.

I will again explain, where my idea comes from:
Thomas has opened a new plant in Kunshan and the opening ceremony will be at the beginning of August. this is also the moment, when this company starts to engage in this orphanage. (with lawyers and everything attached)
5 children are real orphans and ~ 50 children are unwanted disabled children. what ever the company is doing, it is their doing.

my idea is, that we bikers can also do something like buying a wheelchair when one is needed or pay some doctors bills, what ever.
I am no profi and I am no accountant but I would handle it his way:
open an account and post here how much money is on it every month
if there is a need in the orphanage and money is spend, I will post it also here.
if a need comes up, I would post here like: hey guys, little XYZ needs: ......... is it possible to collect enough money?
I will also visit them and post reports and photos here

If somebody has a better idea how to handle this, please be free to write. my intention is to make it easy and direct

I am sure Sabine you will get it all sorted out and so far you have 2 pladges with a total of a 1000 rmb lets just hope other members can support your good cause sorry i can not advise you on how to set
