Great post, wasn't expecting to see this one pop up here on MCM of all places - as I read this one on an industry specific website.

Brings back lots of fond memories... for two services I was employed in for more than a decade covered in the photos (fire & ambulance). In the ambulance service we had BMW K1100RT's when I was employed there at the time. In fire there was discussion over quick response bikes for attending fire alarms, MCP activations in commercial premises where the majority were/are false alarms, as well as for car fires, MVA's etc. The bike option for fire though never was implemented during my time in the service. Was surprised to see in Shanghai around 2009 some fire service motorcycles being ridden on the streets...

I'm very active on related industry forums and have plenty of contacts in both services and know well the issues that Ambulance Victoria (Australia) had with the Gilera Fuoco MP3 500's that were taken out of evaluation... only a third of the way through the trial. Too many issues... electrical, handling etc.

    :)
