01-17-2009, 08:32 AMIs this is a scam, or is it genuine? Real or fake licences? What do you think, does anybody know of or have any experience of this agency? Thanks.

Don't know that agency but in "history" there's same kind of agency Hong Kong, just pay & no test. ( You know that's China -some place are very corrupt) The license were issued from Hainan which caused GREAT trouble in renewing & if cross border directly using that license there's ALWAYS questions from border control officials.

www.china-driving-license.com get you a FAKE driver license.
they give some countryside police station money to issue the license illiegal to you. so its worth nothing if your really have an accident!!!
be carefull. better drive without a license and just speak english to the police that stop you. but dont try it with a fake one!!!
dont trust any of this crappy websites that tell you with money they can get you everything.
check the AVIS website for more detailed info

Scam.
All licenses are issued by the official Police "organ" .......always love how that sounds.
You can't buy a real license except from the Police............fake ones are about $50 USD......printed on real stolen license stock they are printed up with the wrong type of printer and usually lack the water mark in the laminate along with a number that is in the Police computer.
You can get temporary licenses from the Police but they are only good for cars and usually for the length of your stay. The temp license was invented to help the rental car businesses............again issued by the police it's a mini version of the full test and the Police office responsible for issuing these is usually close to the Airport. These Police offices and the hospital will be closed when your plane arrives....that's just how it works here.
You do a written and a medical.......and they look at your foreign license.........and you have to go to a hospital to do the medical.
I hear the full test has now changed though and you are no longer required to do all the strength and coordination physical tests.....takes all the fun out of applying IMHO.
You can pretty much do whatever you want in China, ride, drive, piss in the street..........however there will be a rule against it, get caught and it will be enforced at the whim of the officer........with consequences if you get in an accident and God forbid hurt anyone, in that case your ass is theirs and it can start to get expensive and punitive.

01-20-2009, 08:27 PMThanks for that. So, no residence permit, no legitimate licence. Or, pay vast amounts for the "tour" option. Plan "C", I think.
