#1 What is a 2012 Honda CBF150 worth?08-27-2013, 11:52 PM
I might help out a friend, who will needs to sell his 2012 Honda CBF150.
The bike is literally new (800km), never even collected road dirt, and is without a scratch or ding.
He paid 13.000+ for the bike with plate.
It's got an official out-of-town plate, a real one registered with a out-of-town friend, and showing up in the computer system.
Part of the deal should be to keep the registration as-is, as well all know and trust each other.
Now my question: what should be a realistic price for this bike?

I had a 2007 bike I bought for 9,800. Is your friend a foreigner and did he pay over the odds? The bike may have gone up in price since then of course.
I'd use this formula:
If selling to a local Chinese=lowest negotiable shop floor price in 2012 minus 20-25% depreciation. For a foreign buyer maybe ask 10,000 accept 9,000.
Just my 2c.

I owned the exact same bike for a couple of months, last year. It was an October 2011 bike, I bought it from the original owner in February 2012, and sold it in about May 2012. The bike had only 600 kms on it, which is essentially the same as your friend's bike.
In Beijing, with a Jing B plate (which is valued at about the same as an out-of-province plate), the bike was around 16,000 (new) with everything. I sold it for 12,000 rmb.
At the dealers in Beijing, these now sell for around 11,800 -> 12,900 (new). Add the taxes, plates, etc and you are up to around 14-15K. This is 1-2K cheaper than a year ago. They come up on 58.com in Beijing for around 10K - 11K, with a few thousands kms (Chinese owners that seem to like keeping the tach near the red line). I've only once seen a CBF150 for under 10K.
These CBF150s, and their brothers the 150RRs, are very popular here.
It seems to me that your friend acquired the bike for a good price (13K). If it was me, I would ask 11,000 and not accept anything under 10,000 (because maybe these bikes are less expensive in Shanghai?)
Here's a pic of the bike I had:

and the original ad I used on a local expat website ...Fantastic bike, latest model.
Registered in Oct 2011. Legal "B" plate with both books, fapiao, insurance, all paperwork and manuals. Can be changed to an "A" plate ($$$), if required.
Only 600 kms. Bike is perfect. Ready to go.
Dealer price is about 16,500 (new) with everything. Asking only 12,500. Good deal for a great bike.
It sold within a week and the new owner still has it, and is happy.

Yup, that is exactly the bike, even the same color, how original :).
Thx you both for the reply, I think the question is answered.
The present owner bought it from a friend who is also a Honda dealer, I guess he got some dealer discount trown his way.
As I am afraid I might as well just own it for a couple of months (unless I tear it up and built a trackbike from it), the resale price and the (in) possibily of the license transfer are issues.
From the price he mentioned last week, and your mentioned market price, well, that seems to be interesting enough to proceed.
