I have had similar experience to Bikerdoc regards exhaust. I like the sound, not too laoud and I have an insert to put in when it comes to MOT time to quiet it down a bit. No running issues, fuelling seems to be ok for me. I'm also up for the centre stand fix for my NK, I might have a look on good old ebay and see if I can get a cheap second hand ER6N centre stand to see if I can make it fit...

If you know the MOT tester a loud exhaust isn't an issue ;)
I've never heard of a centre stand for a ER6N/F I have a ER6F at home the exhaust would be in the way for a centre stand

I didn't realise the er6 doesn't come with a centre stand. I did come across the versys sw motech stand but it very expensive to buy just to try to get it to fit!

Choosy, Sometimes popping under deceleration is an indication of a lean condition. I admit I would probably run an ER6 specific muffler too, if it could be proven to be ok for the fueling, without that actual data I personally feel the bike is safer if left stock.

Hi ZMC888, yes I realise I may be taking a bit of a chance, time will tell I guess, now I'm back on the road I'll be sure to post if running the non stock exhaust causes me any issues

Choldy, I doubt you'll see any issues other than a lack or gain of power or torque at different places in the power-band. Engine damage can be done, but I think this is eventual rather than sooner. Rings might go earlier, engine might run hotter and surfaces wear sooner. But will the engine be 5 or 50 years old before anyone can tell the difference? That would take a team of expert engineers many weeks, months or years to figure out! Only a dyno plus an expert engineer working together can tell anyone the answer to the correct fuelling needs in the short term, and that's why I stick to those results. A homebrew 'guessimation' exhaust mod, might help, hinder or damage an engine, we just need that data to know what's really happening.
