#1 Headlight Angle?01-29-2009, 11:15 PM
does anybody have an issue with the angle of their headlight beam?
My light seems to be bright enough, but doesn't point down on the road in front, but rather straight out and even a little bit towards the sky.

For some reason I often see the bikes with headlight in a kind of "ponting towards the heavens" setting which kind of irritates me.
Either way, it either needs to be adjusted or the bulb is not in correctly.

01-31-2009, 09:49 AMI'm sorry to sound like a old cantankerous reactionary but, this is all to do with the silly shapes that headlamps and their reflectors have adopted these days. All form and style and hang the function. The classic round headlights and their optically correct reflectors gave a far better light with none of the scatter found on a lot of modern units.

God damn cantankerous reactionaries! Next thing you k now they'll be complaining about NASA and non-stick frying pans.
While that may be true, nevertheless, most modern reflectors (even the worst of them) don't point at the sky by nature. One could still try changing bulbs (or at least making sure the current one is seated correctly) and re-aiming the light if possible.

02-01-2009, 02:37 AMTo adjust the headlamp at low beam:
Place the bike with the front wheeel up to a wall and make a mark where the light hits horizontal.
Mowe the bike 10 meters away from the wall.
The light have to "fall" 1% = 10 cm within 10 meter distance.
You have to sit on the bike when you do testing and adjustment.
Check if the bulp are mounted correct.Torben Vester - "Morfar"

Thanks for the help guys... When I was taking the head light off the forks, I notcied that you can actually adjust the angle the of the headlight by repositioning the bolt on both sides.
The light actually hits the road now is far more useful at lighting my path at night... A few more lumens would not go astray though...
Funnily enough, now that my low beam is pointing forward and down, when you hit the high beam the light beam travels out and up...
Seems you can't win them all...---------------------------------------------------
