I am. I'm planning on leaving at the beginning of July. I think there are two others here as well. Where are you in your plans?

Hey. I hoped there will be someone here. I'm in Malaysia, thinking to do Kuala Lumpur Poland. I don't want to do it all alone so I thought I could meet with some chinese bikers. Whats your route? I was thinking about more arabic route than russian, with Kirgistan loop. What will you buy? You're seriously considering Jailing 150gy3? It could make it if you re lucky ;)

That would be great! At the moment im planning on doing most of it alone and it would be great to have someone to ride with. Take a look at my website. I have my route mapped out there. Im going to do russia, but i am american so i also cant do Iran so I plan to cross kyrgyzstan, tajikistan uzbekistan turkmenistan and take the caspian sea ferry to azerbaijan, georgia and turkey. I don't think i have the money to go into europe so I'll stop there.

Im almost positive that I'll get a Shineray x5. There is a really good post on it here under dirt/dual sport.

What will your plan be for getting in and out of China? You can't bring a bike in without paying a ton of money for a tour and you'll need some kind of registration paper to cross borders.

I tried Shineray x5 once. I think it's great. I'm not planning china. I have just left it in August. I thought we could meet somewhere on the way but... I was thinking more of thailand-bangladesh-india-pakistan-kirgstan -uzbekistan-turkemenstan -iran-azerbaizhan-georgia-turkey. but i didnt plan it yet more closely. And I was thinking about maybe april. Still long way to go so much can change. and who are the other two? Whats their plan?

Sounds pretty cool. My contract here ends at the end of June so I couldn't go earlier but lets keep in touch. It seems like at least our routes through the stans are mostly the same.

We plan to go from Shanghai to Europe. probably through Vietnam - Thailand - India - Pakistan - Iran..... April/May 2014
But we havent fixed anything yet - we are still buying/modifying bikes - then we want do a testride for a week or two to test the equipment

How would you get past Myanmar? Back into China? or by boat?

I looked into this route before I decided to come to China and found that crossing into myanmar (burma) is impossible.

Also, I believe foreigners are not allowed to enter Tibet by road at least in the Yunnan or Sichuan direction so entering India via. the friendship highway may not be possible. Not quite as sure about that though.

JFYI, forget about riding into Burma, I couldn't even get far in by foot, bus, rail, or boat.
