#1 New Honda CBR300R revealed in Chongqing10-18-2013, 12:07 AM
Honda-CBR300R.jpg
The new bike was shown at the Chinese International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition in Chongqing, where Honda CEO Seiji Kuraishi, promised that the bike would become a worldwide model and that would have high production figures.
There was conjecture in the motorcycle community that the bike would be a bored-out version of the current 250cc single cylinder engine in the current CBR250R. The styling has also changed to a more VFR styled look. No word of whether the bike will be made in China by Honda affiliates Sundiro or Wuyang, but with the announcement being made in China, it would seem that there is a fair to middling possibility of the bike also being manufactured or assembled in China as well as Thailand.
Personally if the bike was now sporting a twin cylinder engine rather than a single, they might well have a winner on their hands, due to licensing restrictions like LAMS in Australia and a2 in the UK the 300-400cc is a growing segment that's also very popular in Asia, due to having a fair power, great handling, good weight and good economy. However 250-300cc singles can bore many riders quite quickly, but 300cc-400cc twins and 350cc-400cc singles can keep experienced riders entertained for much longer.

As far as I understand the value of an import is the value of it at the port, that’s the purchase price from the factory. THE value is based on what the importer as the distributor side pays for the unit.
Since the CB500F retail in the USA for $5,499.00 I can assume at least a 100% mark-up or a cost to Honda USA of or around $3,000.00 USD. It may be more and in that the profit margin under 100%? Since the USA is the baseline for pricing and that’s because there is no import tariffs. Markets without tariff compete at the lowest prices. Markets with tariffs have artificially inflated prices. The margins are often the same its just set on a higher price do to the taxes.
It is likely that the margins on profit are lower in the USA then other markets, so lets set the factory to distribution price at 3500.00 USD, then check to see what it cost for one FOB China.

MJH, really I think you need to re-read the original post, you post is highly irrelevant.

Sorry I thought that Honda announced it was importing new models into China, the 300 was just one announcement.
I was just trying to get ahead of pricing for the importing of the 500 twins.
