Who would think it a good idea to show off copies of Vespas in Milan?

I wonder if the fake watch manufacturers show up at trade shows for time pieces? Unlikely. Yet, here are some clone manufacturers showing up in Italy, FFS, with Vespa clones. Says a lot about their forward-thinking abilities.

That EVA is Hyosung’s new electric scooter, for them to launch it in Milan and with it being a copy of the classic lines of a Vespa is really pretty foolish. So those reps may have a few Wons in their wallets and not any Yuans?

Vespa actually has new model/version of that classic design, its called a 946.

They are sold in Italy through LML and also in the UK as well, so are they ok to make, a copy of them that is? It be real ball buster to do all that developing and take it to show and have it pulled off the floor.

Similar thing happened with one of the PRC manufacturers in 2011 attending the same EIMCA trade show, displaying a 3 wheeler that looked so much like a Piaggio/Gilera MP3... I posted about it with the news link and photos at the time... I think the infringement was on the front end steering patent or similar... the display bike was also seized...

Yeah not so great to take it to Italy but it does seem to be a bit bizarre that Piaggio find it to be a problem now

That was the Eva at EICMA two years ago.

Znen is in the pic of the piaggio link with a model which Sinnis have in the UK as the Spirit.

There were also issues reported with a Taotao PCX copy and I know Longjia had a bike hidden.

There has been recent legislative changes in Italy, regarding design rights, in so much; if a design in iconic, with or without an enforce patent, in the event of any attempt to copy that design, action can be taken? That is in part the complexity of it and that it is not in alignment with current EC regulations.
