Is the Hi-Bird 250cc dualsport available in the US yet? Anyone seen this one at any of the shows? What about the dealer show in Indy? I'm looking to get back into the chinabikes.

    Thanks for any info!

On Chinariders, member 'phil' just got back from Indy. I can't quite make out what he says 100% because he writes without capitals, or periods, but he said something about this bike being expensive or something like that. Look for his thread about just getting back from Indy.

Should have mentioned to wait for Carl's report--when (if!! ) he makes it back from Amsterdam. I know he was supposed to go to Indy this past weekend, and meet with Hi-Bird and Asiawing, among others. Have you seen the new Pitster Pro XTR 250, BTW? 25 hp liquid cooled engine. Distributed by Puzey of South Africa and Australia, and some reviews if you dig around. Manufactured by Galaxy Moto of China.

    Thanks culcune!

Honestly, if I have to spend more than $2500, I'd probably just go ahead and get a new 2009 Kawasaki KLX250S. I think I can get one for around $4000. For the extra money, it's probably the safe bet and it has a 6-speed transmission.

Sam, in Yuma, it's hard to cut deals on Kawasaki's, so the $5k price is the price they sell it for. However, I have seen the ads for Phoenix Kawi dealers cutting deals on the KLR650. Since the KLX250 is aimed at a more youthful audience, I bet they wouldn't discount it, although I haven't tried.

Pitster's price includes shipping, and I haven't even tried to get a reduction on it . Galaxy is supposed to sell directly here, but I am not sure if they can considering any territorial deals with Puzey or Pitster.

The Xingyue 400's can be had for a decent price, BTW, direct from China. Write them, and you might get a pleasant surprise, although not sure how much shipping will be for a sample vs. a container. Maybe a small group purchase of 15 (should fill a 20' container)?

Looks like I screwed up big time! I thought the Indy Expo was this one at the end of the month. I already booked tickets, hotel, rental car and everything!!!

It looks like I was seriously mistaken. Although I still would have had to attend the film festival, this is a real bummer as there was a lot of work I needed to do for both MCM and the film there. Oh well, looks like I may need to cancel some tickets and reservations.

Sorry about that Culcune, we'll have to work it from a different angle.

While running a google search it has brought me back here once again.

According to hi-bird site this bike is also available with a 30 hp liquid cooled engine (bottom left corner)

Does anybody know more about these 30 horses?

Based on the picture, I'm not even sure what kind of 30hp motor they could fit in the frame. To get that kind of power from a single cylinder, I'd think you're you looking at least 400cc?
