I wish i had more to tell you about this thing but really I haven't had any problems worth writing about. Im nearing 2000km and most issues are just minor or things to be expected with a chinese bike. For example, the foam air filter is placed in such a way as to make it impossible to reach without removing all the panniers and most of their support, and the chain is starting to loosen unevenly so I'll have to start looking into replacing that. ALso, the pannier on the side of the exhaust is awkwardly shaped and uselessly small.
Now that I think about it, I have been having trouble with the radiator. Every time I ride I add a bit of coolant because the reserve tank seems to drain out. The coolant doesn't go directly into the reserve tank and starts overflowing after about 2 seconds of slow pouring. I've removed the reserve tank, which is surprisingly difficult, and filled that directly only to find after a day or so that its back to nearly empty. I can't find any leaks so Im starting to think that the radiator was never filled properly when I bought it. I don't have any issues with overheating in this weather luckily assuming the engine thermometer is working but I hope nothing was damaged. I don't really know much about water cooling systems...
I've also never seen or heard the fans working.
Culcune is probably right about the engine. No issues whatsoever and it sounds the same as it did when I bought it. Just that radiator is starting to worry me..
About the weight, in the manual it says the dry weight is 150kg. I did drop it when I stopped next to some deep mud a few days back... pretty embarrassing... but I couldn't pick it up by myself. I'd like to think it was the mud but Im also not very strong anyway.. With two people it was quite easy though.
If you can think of any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them. Will the Zongshen RX3 survive??http://kelleyssilkroad.blogspot.com/

01-20-2014, 04:14 PMHey there, thanks for all your updates on this - it certainly looks an interesting bike!
Without throwing the chat thread off too much, does anyone know who would export one of them? I have tried emailing many times to Zongshen to try and buy one to bring into Singapore, never get any response! Would call but I don't speak Chinese :-(
Anyone any idea who to contact would be greatly appreciated!

On the zongshen website it says this thing has some kind of USB interface. Where is that located?

A USB interface?? I don't have one.. There are two unused plugs where you could probably connect something like that under the passenger seat. Theres nothing in the manual either. Maybe it is a typo. It has an LCD interface .. which is quite nice by the way. It includes the engine temp, gas, and speed in Km/h or Mp/h.
I'm 5'11'' and its a perfect size for me. I have plenty of leg room. My friend, who must be about 6'5'' tried it out and he didn't complain about anything. Will the Zongshen RX3 survive??http://kelleyssilkroad.blogspot.com/

There's definitely something. It states it right on their website. The information on this bike just seems to be really sparse, even after checking the Chinese forums and Youku, etc.

Found a dealer today and was able to have a look at the RX3, X5 and the X2 in person. I'm pretty impressed with the RX3. Although I'm 6'5" (1.95m) the bike felt really comfortable. Exceeded my expectations somewhat. This bike seems perfect for long distance China travel, much more so than the X5, IMO. Very plush but firm comfortable leather seat and good seating/riding position. I'll say it's about an 80% road/20% off road bike. That's how I would sum it up. While the X5 seems to be about a 65% road/35% off road bike. The bike seems to be decent quality. We'll see...

A question for you about the RX3, If you buy the bike without the boxes, do you still get the crash/drop bars ?.
Also is there any opening behind the blue decorative glass on the headlamp to insert any kind of light ?.
And lastly give us some more bike porn hehe, real close ups
