My two... liras: maybe carb with bigger throttle diameter wouldn't be better then stock 30 mm carb. IMO, with bigger carb, displacement of the engine and design of the motor head and valve train can not provide required speed of air-fuel mixture through on low and mid revs. As a result, only improvement you could feel on high revs. Better ask someone who's been dealing with carbs.

You can try to rejet your stock carb and experiment with needle position and see how bike runs.

Or you can try some 28-30 mm CV or slider carb with acceleration pump...

And I don't know what to say you about exhaust. I know - it is hard to find in Italy something that can suit you.

LeoVince, Jollymoto, Marving, Arrow, Giannelli, G&G, MIVV, HP Corse, Termignoni...

as usual I thank every useful advice about tuning...............yeah I thought about that too, bigger is not always better especially when dealing with carbs on non sporty engines
when I had my 400 cc DRZ I wanted to install a 39 FCR Keihin instead of the original Mikuni 36 but the bike has gone before I could proceed (by the way I am trying to resell this nice used carb I had got on Ebay)
but I still would love to see how the V-Raptor goes with a FCR Keihin or VM/TM Mikuni...........and yes you're right again, maybe in this case it wouldn't be really useful to get a bigger size carb
about the exhaust, i was going to order that nice one seen on youtube but unfortunately forme it's not legal for road use (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL3DL7sK_SA)
so I am going to check at local part stores and find something that can fit it............i thought I could look for something that could fit the Van Van Suzuki but am not sure if frame hooks are in same positions
online there's a lot of cheap terminals from eastern europe and China but most of them are not legal or replicas of famous brands (i.e. Yoshimura, Akrapovic and so on)

I've just sharing my thoughts - that wasn't advice. I'm not specialist, I'm not more than enthusiast with even more questions.

I'm also tempted to try out some Chinese clone of "Keihin" CVK 18 on my "motorino", to see what those CV carbs can do. But, carb I need is pretty cheap, and those you mentioned earlier are not... "reasonably priced". What kind of money are you talking about? 80 or more euros for plain slide type VM, 100+ euros for flat slide TM and three times more for some FCR? Buoni come il pane, ma abastanzza costosi!

Just a few days ago, one guy from the US was cleaning carb on his "Zongshen"... But not to tell you all the story, here is link and see for yourself: http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...ll=1#post78817 . So, maybe this "reasonably priced" Chinese-made CV type "Teikei" can be nice addition to your bike.

About the exhaust: so, you like this low pitch thumping sound? Me too! Somehow, in my mind, this kind of exhaust sound triggers word "Supertrapp" - exhaust which can be tuned by adding or subtracting discs. Even "Ducati" on idle sounds nice with "Supertrapp". And they are street legal.

on my profile pic you can see the final solution for exhaust change..............a Highway Hawk Megaton (or Megafon, not sure) terminal, obviously NOT legal for road use and too noisy as it is, so the seller advised me to add a VW DBkiller in it...........that's what my welder guy did and the result was pretty cool, didn't even need to readjust carburetor..........beefier sound when you turn on and "masculine" tose when you rev up
wish I could post that my raptor was now easily reaching 120 km/h like some friend said before on another website...............not sure if I ever reached that, but surely it took a LOOOOOONG launch to do so
moreover, travelling for too long at that speed, each and every time I f**k up some headlight or taillight bulb or some other part gets lost due to heavy vibrations
since I still have a pretty heavy hand on throttle, few days ago I almost messed up my engine during a highway speeding..............engine suddenly lost power and almost died so I instantly pulled clutch to avoid tire block and stopped in a park area
few minutes after I slowly moved to my mechanic with a strange sound coming from engine head
he confirmed my suspect about a initial seizure (not sure if this is the right to define piston and cylinder starting to get stuck due to overheating, although oil level was ok, but this happened to me in the past on both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines while I was speeding a lot for too long)
he suggested me to just get going and avoid further speeding cause this bike is not meant to be used like that, but the noise is still there and I feel frustrated as anybody can imagine..............what's the use in riding a bike when you cannot speed from time to time ?
it sounds like riding a ill horse that can just trot and not gallop...........
he thinks the only reason to open engine would be substituting the whole power unit (piston, cylinder ans so on) and so far it's not worth the expense
anyhow, should this be the case, does any of you raptor owners out there know about websites where I can find aftermarket pieces (even better if they are NOT from Skyteam and if displacement is a bit bigger than 223 cc) ???

I almost messed up my engine during a highway speeding....
You can only blame yourself on that one.
IMO IF you need to go faster than 120KM/h then buy a bigger C.C. bike.

Try fitting one of these next time .........

That’s unfortunate, it is not likely that Skytean manufactured the engine, they likely buy them from another manufacturer, what is stamped on it?
If you do decide to pursue a new engine it will require allot of effort on your part to get one.
They can be found here: https://world.taobao.com/
    This may help?
    Similar engine?

If he is located in Italy he could search for a 233cc. In Poland you can buy lifan/loncin engines 233 ohv with balancer.

For example here you have one without balancer

Thedoc62 if you do not find the engine in Italy pm me. I know a spediton which transports goods to itally. Maybe they can bring you engine from Poland for low price.
