Has anybody any clue if this mod would be just plug and play?? I like the idea of having trip meter on the bike.

Hi I can't see why not if you get a new wiring harness as well but I would think it could be big $$
For people outside china . So why not just remember the km on the O.E speedo ?

I spoke with CFMoto end of 2013 regarding the 2014 650TR dash cluster retrofitting to the previous model.
The new dash cluster from the 2014 650 is not exactly compatible with the older models in terms of being able to have the clock and tripometer. There are changes internally since the 650 display now includes a clock and tripometer, which the previous models did not have. Consequently this requires a change to the main wiring harness, which is a major change out, not just a simple sub harness change out as one would hope. While the dash is the same basic shape, and dimensions etc., the plugs used are different.

I can not really comment on the NK, but as I wrote, the change for the dash etc for the TR is not as simple as I'd hoped. While one can simply swap the dash on the TR, plugging it in and getting it to work is not so simple. One would need to change the main wiring harness, this is the full harness, that means a big job. EVERYTHING comes off the bike, EVERYTHING unplugged, swapped out... big job...

I have been taking this bike apart NK that is and that is not so big job.

well at least it don't feel to me as i also had to dismantle rear section when I covered it with decal.

but on NK that would be a big job indeed.

There is a possibility that, as speedo is made by KOSO then maybe the pin order is different to 2013 model. other option would be buy KOSO RX1n as it is same unit but not modified by CFMoto.. but will everything work.. thats another matter.. kosoRX1_zps1cd9e098.jpg

There are some cell-phone apps and some wireless cycling computers that might be able to do the job. Personally I'd like a gear selector indicator.

It does look like CFMoto did personalise speedo of some what.
    Even lighting is little different.

Here is the link of kawasaki forum where they have installed some koso speedos to their bikes.

While front looks identical back of original Koso and CFMoto one is different. so connection places do look different, so original Koso will not just bolt on.
and prices of these units seems to be almost the same.
