Shanghai downtown plates hu A or B

Hi all,

I'm currently looking into buying a bike in Shanghai. Buying itself isn't an issue at all, but how to get a legal plate for a bike?

I followed up several posts in the forum and so far I understood, there are no new plates issued in Shanghai, if I need a plate I have to buy one on the second hand market, what looks actually nearly impossible to me ...

I'm not complaining about the money, in my opinion a plate is a kind of an investment. I'm just struggling, a how to get a legal plate ...

Couyld anyone give me some guidance on this topic?

Why is it impossible?

Don't shops have some contacts selling theirs?

I don't understand why OP's "struggling to get a legal plate" if $ ain't the issue.

Last 3 times I heard, 沪A plates were sold 160k, 170k and 130k respectively here in overpriced 上海... I don't think the market price fluctuates, it's 130k, but some people want a plate now and are ready to pay extra bucks.

Can't you simply go into any legit MC shop and ask? Though one of the issues might be that if you are not intending to buy a MC from that shop then they might not be in a position or willing to help...

Thanks for your replies,In think I will go to a dealer and ask for the plate, I didn't do this before, because it was not clear to me how it will be handled. I keep you posted guys.
