Zongshen zs250-5 not running

Hi I'm really new to the Chinese market scooter/bike bike scene. I recently purchased a non running 2006 zongshen zs250-5 and was wondering if there are any common problems that might keep it from running. I seem to read the carb has issues but I honestly the battery is dead and haven't charged it yet so I don't even know if it's getting power. From what some research I've done it seems that the 250cc motor is a common Yamaha "clone". Please correct me if I'm wrong. And any help is very appreciated. Also, is there like a Haynes manual that covered the 250cc bikes?

So today I charged the battery in my bike. I put the battery in and I have no power to anything. Any suggestions?

I went and worked on the bike alittle today. I was messing around with the starter solenoid and determined it was bad. The was no continuity between the terminals and the positive terminal was really loose. I didn't notice that the speedometer light was on but very dim. I tried the brake light and it shut all power off. I have a brand new spare battery I'm going to try tomorrow. Could it possibly be a bad ground also?

And I also found a blown 15 amp fuse. That was on the solenoid and replaced that.

So today I got my yamaha starter solenoid. I put it in and smoke poured out of the bike. I melted a few wires and I wanted to know where I could buy a new complete wiring harness. I found a wiring harness for a zongshen zs250 GS and it seems to have similar connections. Would that work?
