03-18-2009, 04:44 PMAnd It's very Italian inspired! Here's a link to a show release article:
http://www.scooter-news.com/index.ph...50s-from-qlink
Scooter news does a good job of covering the show. Or go to qlinkmotor dot com for more photos.
I didn't make it to Indy this year and missed Qlinks new offering of three trellis framed LC 250 in race, naked and S-moto trim. Wow...I think these bikes are really nice looking. Granted I used to work for a Ducati dealer and currently sell Vespa, Piaggio, and Moto Guzzi.
So Qlink is a US importer with mostly Qingqi products. But from what I can gather, this Megelli is pulled together differently. I don't know if these will be avialible outside the US.
I guess some amount of credit is due to Qlink for going a little further to set itself apart from the crowd. But, got any bets on how quickly a Megelli-clone will pop up???

03-18-2009, 07:13 PMThere's a good thread on here all about these bikes:
http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...hlight=megelli
I had a look at a local dealer that has all 3 of the 125 models and they're beautifully put together with quality components. All 3 look fantastic.
The best large high definition photos of the 125 models are at this Spanish site. Just click on the word in red "aquí" on the left side and feast your eyes:

So, Forchetto, that answers the question about which engine--you guessed correctly--the Loncin liquid-cooled 250. Since Pitster Pro has started importing the Puzey, that engine is already US EPA certified, although the Puzey is rated at 25 hp.
gp, I don't know if there will be any clones--CPI has sold it's GTR scooter here in the US, and it has a definite original, classy look to it, like the Megellis, and no one copied it. Come to think of it, in a way, the Megellis almost look like they copied the CPI's a bit, but not in a bad way
Also, the link you posted, Forchetto, has a youtube video I found of a guy riding the motard in 125cc form, and if you put in 'megelli' there are other videos of the other bikes in action, albeit in 125 form, and not the anticipated 250cc models.

They are very pretty bikes, I'll agree. I wonder if they are available in China....
The only problem is the 250 engine in the bikes...16hp (12KW). A typical Chinese 250cc single.

03-19-2009, 04:33 PMThanks Forchetto, I missed that string and should have searched before posting. Now I'm caught up.
Given that the 250 Ninja sells like hotcakes, I think Qlink has aimed this bike squarely at the same marketshare. New riders who want a bargain sport bike that isn't scarey fast. Also, commuters who never get moving over 50mph in the city.
But offering three versions is very wise. Widen appeal and reduce inventory. For example - the sport bike catagory actually declined last year, with dual-sports and scooters being the only strong growth catagories. The Smoto and naked will have better pull in the current market.
Also, consider this simple sales dynamic that I see all the time. A young guy buys a bike and his friend/s likes it and might buy one also.....BUT they don't want to look like Tweedledee twins or a same sex couple by owning matching bikes.
I really impressed with the swingarm and the undertail exhaust. Let's hope it sells well enough to warrant a 400 in the future. And if I were selling them, the first accessory I'd push would be a complete set of sliders.

"The three Megelli models are the most anticipated products. Finally we have got 2010 EPA certificate. It means we are legal to import them now. However, our R & D team in China is working on the improvement of engine to make sure it has enough speed and durability. For sure Megelli will be available in early next year, but we may be able to make it happen earlier."

Looks like they'll be out soon.

They've got a good discussion/review going on this FB group, So far everything I've read about the 125 really puts me off towards them. Hopefully the 250 will have the QC upped for qlink. I've also read these bikes are a sachs/minerva/megelli joint venture. They do look kinda like that sachs x-road but at much better price. Last I checked x-road 125 was going for around 3000$, which is about the same price the megelli 250s are going for.

01-25-2010, 03:05 AMI believe that the Kawasaki Ninja 250 is the best selling current motorcycle in the US. If you visit a Kawasaki dealer you can see that; there are always at least 10 in the showroom. Its popular and part of that is the price, which is reflective of it being made in Thailand.
Megelli is being manufactured by HSUN
http://www.hsun-motor.com/EN/Product/Product.asp?SortPath=56
It is being sold by Qlink with a 250cc only for the states so far.
and its on back order on their site, which I think means its not ready to sell yet.
Qlink will not sell it unless they are confident in it.
It must slow the process contracting the builds, they all buy different parts from different places, is that engine a Loncin?

IIRC The 125 was a Sym engine, I can't find anything about the 250 engine or proper updates on it. Its all 007 top secret stuff, but after reading what I did on the 125 FB group, I'm not going to be the tester for the 250, unless the problems w the 125 have been acknowledged, addressed and fixed.
