Steve, great review and feedback as usual, even if scooters aren't really my thing.

Minor niggles seem utterly typical of Chinese bikes. Also Benelli branding equaling expensive parts is disappointing but not a surprise.

Jonsims, I have a CFMoto CF 650 NK (2011 version) and it has been a reliable bike so far. Have nothing bad to say about it really. Starts, stops, goes. Front fork leaked, but that was replaced without major hassle. I wanted a Benelli to experience something different. Have been looking at CFMoto's 250 scooter and will probably replace my Benelli with a CFMoto at a certain point, but for now I am OK with my scoot.

ZMC888, Thanks :) Yes, the parts are expensive, and I think I'm better off bying aftermarket ones over the original ones. At this price point the difference isn't really big.

What do you expect? You've got the original "Benelli" - splendid and unreliable two-wheeler. Since 1911.

OK, so I went with the aftermarket Taiwanese clutch from these guys:

    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=..._u=ck0i86r2fdc

The result is amazing. Well, I mean now the scooter rides as it was supposed to be right from the start: the pickup is smooth and that jerk when the clutch engages or disengages is gone. The pull is linear and predictable through the revs, and there's no twitching when riding at a lower speed.
This is how the clutch bell looks in real life:

    IMG_8396.jpg

The mechanic who installed the clutch bell said that the inner diameter of the new clutch bell was a tad bigger than that of the original one, yet no measurements were made (no time for it). Whatever it is, larger internal diameter or the fact that the new clutch bell was properly manufactured, it doesn't jam up the wheel and allows it to rotate freely.
For now I am very happy with that, but here goes a word of warning for all people who would want to buy Benelli Silverblade (or Zafferano in some markets): you will have to spend additional $ on your clutch if you want to have a smooth ride. Think twice if you want this trouble and if the aftermarket parts for this scooter are readily available where you live.

I went with these guys: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=..._u=kk0i86r118d
and had my seat re-worked and re-upholstered.
    The result is as follows:

    IMG_8550.jpg

I won't say that it makes a lot of difference, though a bit lower seat height and a back support both feel good. The leg room is still not enough to properly stretch out, but the seating position is more relaxed than what it was.

To sum up, Benelli Silverblade can be a good scooter if you go with:
    1. An aftermarket windshield, approximately 500 yuan.
    2. An aftermarket clutch and clutch bell, approximately 2000 yuan together.
    3. An aftermarket seat, approximately 300 yuan.

Even though it all sounds doable, I don't really see any reason why the manufacturer thinks about those obvious things not.

The left front light (low beam) burned less than 2 weeks ago. I replaced the bulb. The same happened to the right front light (low beam) today. Says heaps about the quality of parts used on the scoot.
What's going to be the next one, I wonder?

Good luck steve hope this is the end of the problematic chinese bike you have

To sum up, Benelli Silverblade can be a good scooter if you go with:

    2. An aftermarket clutch and clutch bell, approximately 2000 yuan together.
    3. An aftermarket seat, approximately 300 yuan.
