As has been mentioned my bike got nicked in Chengdu. Well you either go postal or just get on with it and get anothery. Not being able to source a snipers rifle locally I thought it best to search another moto che.

Thought about it , went for a ride on it, tried out the bags for size. Wanted it.!

I’m deep inside a Chinese mountain, I don’t know how deep but the only thing I can see is the dim and dirty red light of Murray’s bike. We are in a tunnel; it’s unfinished with bare rock walls that look like they were hacked through the mountain by hand. There is water flowing down the walls and the road. The road surface is unfinished; there are potholes and ruts barely visible by the light of my bike. Occasionally I see the dim form of scaffolding or odd bits of machinery all of it looking hard and unyielding. It’s as if the builders have moved on leaving the tunnel half built.
After an age we see the light at the end of the tunnel and emerge into the sunny Yunnan morning. I look at Murray and ask him “what do you reckon mate?”He replies “glad we are not going back that way” and rides off down the road.

Black on black represents the darkness of the tunnel.

Bizarrely received this pic while in the tunnel so I think it is relevant.

Need to quote that pic, for Ride Report emphasis. BTW, you should share the GPS coordinates of exactly where they appear.

Are you guys heading up there to take S216? Felix and I did a big chunk of S216 back in 2010 via a back-door route from LuGuHu. I've always wondered if that road was actually going to be built, as it's been on maps for years. The part we did was pretty sketchy, glad we were on dirt bikes. I know TIC and shit changes fast, but be careful about petrol up there, heck, we couldn't even find bottled water or a binguan to sleep in back in 2010.

If S216 actually exists today like it appears on google maps, have a F''n blast, I think it could possibly be one of the best rides in China.

BTW... nice mountains in the 4th post, but the jungle in her armpits needs a little attention.

    Cheers!
