I'm looking for the correct valve clearance specs for a 2014 xf250. I've been searching around and finding all different numbers. I have a loud tapping noise that sounds to be coming from the valves once warm. I'd like to check and adjust the valves first before driving myself crazy. I've also heard that these motors are notoriously noisy. Can anyone that has one give me some input please. Thanks.

    Similar to TU250:
IN 0.03-0.08mm (Just tune to 0.002)
Ex 0.08-0.13mm (Just tune to 0.004)

Which oil is on the bike? Some are not good enough in air cooled bike

I was given specs of .05 ~.07 intake and exhaust by the factory, but then again every Chinese motorcycle producer I've ever asked about valves has given me the exact same number. Humanbeing is right, follow the specs for the TU250, these engines are more or less identical.

I had two of these that you can read about here, I never felt the engine was excessively noisy, but they are a single cylinder air cooled engine and the giant fins on the head of the 250 seem to resonate engine noise.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to check and adjust the valves tomorrow. I just changed out the break in oil over the weekend and it made little difference in the noise. I used Mobil 1 4t 10w40. If the valves don't take care of it I'll have to go back to the dealer...

Adjusted the valves to .002 and .004 , they were a little wide. It sounds better, but there is still some noise when warmed up. Not sure how much noise would be considered normal for this motor...

Record an audio sample. I'm curious.

Contacted SSR and was given .003 intake and .005 exhaust. Also contacted the selling dealer to see what they say, waiting for a call back. I could record it with my phone tomorrow.

What oil has anyone used in this motor? Currently has Mobil 1 4t 10w40. They also have a 20w50. Thoughts?
