#1 Where is Horsepower customarily measured on Chinese Motorcycles12-15-2015, 11:14 PM
When horsepower of Chinese motorcycle is stated, where is it measured?
At the crank of the engine, or at the rear wheel?
I see horsepower numbers are tossed around, but I do not know how the numbers compare from one motorcycle to another motorcycle. What is the standard used on this Forum and within the Chinese motorcycle world?
Example----When Zongshen states a horsepower number for a particular motorcycle model they make, where is the horsepower being measured on the motorcycle?
Thanks,

Likely at the crank... like most motorcycle manufacturers me thinks... but don't take my thoughts on the subject as Gospel. But remember to allow for LAM (learner) type approval restrictions too on low-mid displacement engines... meaning one model can provide different numbers depending if the engine on the said motorcycle is LAM approved or not.... which only clouds the already muddy waters.
