Just signed up to this forum. looks like lots of good informatin here.

I'm from Canada but been living in China foe the last 3 months in a little development that's 1/2 in Beijing (Yanqing county) and 1/2 in Heibei province. Close to the GuYaJu caves if you want to look it up.

If I'm still here come next spring I'll be buying a motorbike to bomb around in. That is if I manage to get my residency permit squared away by then so I can get a drivers license. It took my wife 3 months of navigating red tape and curruption just to get her's so now its my turn. I'm actually back in Canada now for 2 weeks and already I'm thwarted in applying for an S1 visa because the Chinese embasy doesn't accept our mairriage certificate. So by the time I get an official government issued certificate, I'll already be back in China and will have to wait till I leave the county again just to be able to enter with the right type of visa to apply for a residence permit.

Well its almost a year later now and I've had my drivers license since December. Finally got a bike last week, bought it from a forum member who is leaving the country. Its a 2013 Benelli bn600gs:

I've bombed around on it a bit to try it out. Next day off I'll run through some of the local twisties.

It feels great to be back on 2 wheels again!

Hey, welcome to riding in and around Beijing!

I typically go out nearly every weekend, I stopped posting up rides here because it seems no one is interested, or the Beijing community is not very big on this forum or something... maybe I'll start posting rides again and do my part to build it up... anyway, send me a PM with your wechat and I'll add you.

    Best,
    Galen

Thanks Shuben and Galenernest. I mostly don't get weekends off. mostly just random days during the week. When I have a weekend off I'll contact you guys to see if your going out riding. Otherwise I'll go exploring on my own.

I know this is a long time off, but I will be free for most of October so will be looking for riding buddies to do some longer trips.
