If linking to a post in a thread the link should look like this:
    Code:
    http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/showthread.php?p=nnnn#postnnnn
To get the nnnn, go to the post you want to link to and move the mouse on the post-count number on the right hand side of the post header. It looks like this e.g. #12
In the status line of your browser (Firefox and IE tested) the URL behind the number will be shown like this:
    Code:
    http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5083&postcount=1
The number after p= is the one we are looking for.
Now replace both the nnnn with 5083 and the link is done.

It works...good isn't it. Thanks Chinabiker. I normally link to the entire thread and then ask them to look at post number so and so.

You can also click on the number of the post like "#2" and it will show you only the post on a page with the url on top you can copy and paste.

Likewise, you can right-click the post number and then choose "copy link location" and that will also allow you to paste the single post direct link url.

Ultimately they all achieve the same end but I think the above methods may be the fastest.

Yes that's correct, but it shows you only this single post without the thread

I checked to see if there's a quick way to post a link to a post within a thread (and not just the post by itself) and couldn't find any shortcuts. It looks like the manual way is (as usual) the best way to go!
