08-19-2015, 10:07 PMHi guys
So I recently took delivery of a 2015 Sinnis Apache 125cc and i have a question about weather proofing all wiring under my arse! I took advice from a customer at work who rides for a living, that advice was that as I need to use my bike all year round that i should apply electrical tape to any visible wiring under the seat and around handlebars etc - now I've gone ahead and wrapped all the wiring up snug to save its dear life from the crappiness of the Scottish weather battering it most days.
My question is this - is this safe? Does it have any negative effect on the bike as in one sense im thinking that the manufacturer would of covered all the bare wiring if it was unsafe but in the same mind im worried that bad rain and cold could damage the bike and my wallet if I were to leave it all open to the elements?
Thanks for any and all replys as im a novice rider and I recon this forum will be hugely helpfull with my new chinese best mate haha!

08-20-2015, 06:48 AMActually I would say the insulation tape will most probably stiffen and become dry and "brittle" over a not so long period of time.
If you insist on protecting any open connectors, I'd say apply some kind of grease over them. Even if it's regular Vaseline only :)

After all its just a little cheap 125 chinabike - if you put it in a class cabinet and never ride it, it will look like new for longer, if not accept the fact that it will rust, corrode and have wear and tear, best you can do is clean, lube and grease regularly ans have fun with it after all it was made to ride
