KYMCO recalling scooters to fix front hydraulic brake hose

Publish Date:Oct 15, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. - KYMCO USA is recalling its 2015 Super 8-50 X and Super 8-150 X road scooters because the front hydraulic brake hose may be improperly routed and might contact the front tire when the front suspension is compressed, NHTSA announced.

If the hose contacts the tire, it may rupture, resulting in a loss of front brakes and increasing the risk of a crash.

Number of vehicles affected: 824. KYMCO told NHTSA it expects 70 percent of vehicles will need to be repaired.

Dealers are asked to replace the two brake hose securing brackets in affected vehicles. The manufacturer said it will notify owners, but at press-time had not yet provided a notification schedule.

KYMCO said it will repair all remaining inventory at its warehouse before delivery to dealers.
